Ask five Bangalore agencies to quote the same app and you will get ₹3 lakh, ₹8 lakh, ₹11 lakh, ₹18 lakh and one that refuses to quote until you talk for an hour. The last one is usually the most honest.
This is a breakdown of where that spread actually comes from — written from our office in Nagavara, where we have this conversation with founders most weeks.
The ranges, honestly
| What you're building | Bangalore range (2026) | Timeline |
|---|---|---|
| Smoke test — one flow, waitlist, no accounts | ₹2–4 Lakhs | 3–5 weeks |
| Seed MVP — auth, payments, admin panel, push | ₹5–10 Lakhs | 6–12 weeks |
| Growth build — real-time, multi-role, integrations | ₹10–20 Lakhs | 3–5 months |
| Enterprise — compliance, SSO, audit trails, SLAs | ₹20 Lakhs+ | 5 months+ |
These are build costs. They are not the cost of running the thing, which is the part most first-time founders get wrong.
The four line items missing from most quotes
When a quote looks unusually low, it is rarely because the team is cheaper. It is because these four are outside the scope line:
- Backend infrastructure. Servers, managed database, object storage, CDN, monitoring. For an early-stage consumer app, budget ₹8,000–₹40,000 a month, rising with usage. Someone has to own the bill and the on-call.
- App store compliance. Apple's review process rejects first submissions routinely — privacy manifests, account-deletion flows, permission justifications, data-safety declarations. Add one to three weeks and real engineering hours.
- Post-launch fixes. The first fortnight after launch generates the highest bug volume of the project, because real devices and real users find what QA didn't. If support isn't in the contract, it becomes a second invoice at the worst possible moment.
- Third-party fees. Payment gateway percentages, SMS and OTP costs, mapping API calls, push infrastructure above the free tier. Individually small, collectively a real monthly line.
What actually drives the price up
In rough order of impact on a quote:
- Real-time anything. Live tracking, chat, presence, collaborative editing. Sockets, reconnection logic, conflict resolution and state sync are where estimates go wrong. Frequently the single most expensive feature in a brief.
- Payments and money movement. Not the integration — the edge cases. Refunds, partial refunds, failed webhooks, reconciliation, disputes. Two days to integrate, three weeks to make trustworthy.
- Multiple user roles. A customer app is one product. Customer plus partner plus admin is three products sharing a backend, and it prices like it.
- Offline support. Local persistence, sync queues, conflict handling. Genuinely necessary for field and logistics apps; frequently requested and never used everywhere else.
- Native instead of cross-platform. Separate iOS and Android codebases roughly double mobile effort. For an MVP, React Native — Xenotix Labs" class="auto-link">Flutter or React Native is almost always the correct default — you can always go native later for the one screen that needs it.
Why Bangalore costs a little more
Bangalore rates run roughly 10–20% above equivalent seniority in Tier-2 Indian cities, for an unglamorous reason: the same engineers are being bid on by funded product companies down the road. You are competing with their compensation bands.
That premium is worth paying when your product needs people who have already shipped at scale — consumer apps with real concurrency, payments at volume, ML in the critical path. It is harder to justify for a straightforward internal tool.
How to get a quote you can actually trust
Bring three things to the first call and the spread between quotes collapses:
- The one job your app must do. Not the feature list — the single thing that, if it works, means the product is worth continuing. Everything else is v2.
- Your first 100 users, named or described specifically. "Restaurant owners in Koramangala who currently take orders on WhatsApp" produces a very different, much cheaper build than "consumers".
- Your real deadline and what happens if you miss it. A demo day is a hard constraint and changes the plan. "Sometime this quarter" invites scope creep from both sides.
Then ask every agency the same question: what is your change-request rate, and what counts as a change? The answer tells you more about the next six months than the headline number does.
Where we sit
We opened our Bengaluru office in Nagavara (North Bengaluru) in August 2026, and we work across Koramangala, HSR Layout, Indiranagar, Whitefield and Electronic City. Xenotix Labs has shipped 110+ products since 2020 with a team of 37+ engineers, and holds 4.7★ across 76 Google reviews. Our MVP tiers are published above — the same numbers we quote in the room.
If you want a scoped estimate rather than a range, use the Bangalore cost calculator or book a scoping call. In-person at Nagavara if you'd rather do it face to face.
