Fantasy asks fans to do homework. A prediction game asks: what happens next?
Fantasy sports rewards the fan who studies form for an hour before the match. Most fans do not want that. They want something to play with friends while the match is on, in the gaps between balls — a call on the next over, a leaderboard for the group, bragging rights at the end. That format is lighter than fantasy, more social, and it works without money changing hands.
We are building one now. CallIt is a social game for live cricket: you join a private room with friends or a public room that fills before the match, and when a call window opens you pick what the next six balls will bring — a six, a four, a wicket, a dot ball, ten or more runs. Each card carries its own multiplier and can be used a limited number of times per match, calls lock before the bowler runs in, and the room leaderboard moves as each call settles. There are pre-match calls on the toss and the winner, room chat, and rooms that sponsors can brand. It is free to play and points only.
The hard part of such a game is timing. A call window has to close on every phone at the same moment, before the ball is bowled, even though a television broadcast can run seconds behind the data feed. Settlement has to be instant and beyond argument. This is the live-match engineering we have run on Cricket Winner since 2022: scores pushed over WebSockets in under a second, and infrastructure that scales with the match.
Because there is no entry fee and no cash prize, the format is legal in India after the 2025 online gaming law, and it is the kind of product teams, leagues, broadcasters and sponsors want for fan engagement. We build it for cricket, football or any sport with a live data feed.
